We're Not a Healthy Brand. We're a Clean One.

We're Not a Healthy Brand. We're a Clean One.

Let me say the thing most food brands never will. We are not a healthy brand. And that is the whole point.

People ask me all the time whether our products are healthy. Honestly, I have stopped knowing what that word even means. A samosa is not a salad. Our Bhakarwadi is a snack, rolled and fried the way your grandmother would have made it. If I stood here and told you it was healthy, I would be lying to sell you something. We do not do that.

So let me tell you what we actually are instead.

What clean actually means

Clean label is not a mood or a marketing colour. It is a simple, checkable promise. It means you can turn the pack over, read every single ingredient on the back, and recognise all of them. No items you cannot pronounce. No colours invented in a lab. No preservatives working overtime to keep a snack shelf-stable for two years. Just real ingredients, prepared the way they have always been prepared.

That is it. Nothing hidden, nothing borrowed from a chemistry set. When we say we made something without palm oil, we mean it, and we wrote about exactly why. When we say a snack has no preservatives, it is because it was made in small batches to be eaten, not warehoused.

The difference nobody tells you

Here is the part the industry would rather you did not think about too hard.

"Healthy" is a claim about what a food supposedly does to your body. And it is astonishingly easy to fake. A packet can shout healthy on the front while hiding refined flour, cheap oil and a row of preservatives on the back. The word does a lot of work and promises very little, because almost nobody checks it and almost nobody can.

"Clean" is a different kind of claim entirely. It is a promise about what is actually inside. And the beauty of it is that you do not have to take my word for anything. You can check it yourself, in ten seconds, on the back of the pack. A product can call itself healthy and still be full of junk. Clean has nowhere to hide.

That is why we chose the harder word. Healthy is a claim we could make loudly and never be held to. Clean is a claim you get to hold us to every single time you read a label.

Why we would rather be honest than flattering

We could have played the usual game. Slap a green leaf on the front, borrow the language of wellness, let you assume the rest. It sells. It works. Plenty of brands are built entirely on that gap between what the front of the pack says and what the back of the pack contains.

We are not interested in that gap. Not because we are purists, but because the whole reason Patang exists is to bring you regional Indian snacks made the honest way, at the source, without shortcuts. The day we start dressing a fried snack up as a health food is the day we become the thing we started Patang to get away from.

You are an adult. You know a namkeen is a treat. What you deserve is not a lecture about wellness. It is the truth about what you are eating, so you can decide for yourself.

Our promise, in one line

We are not here to sell you health. We are here to sell you honest food.

So flip the pack. Read it. Recognise everything on it. That is the promise, and it is one you can check yourself, every time.

If you want to see what that looks like in practice, read the full range and start with the back of any pack. And if you are the kind of person who reads labels closely, you might like our guide to which of our snacks are gluten-free, where we are just as straight about the three that are not.
